Call For Papers for the 2001 Technical Conference
The TLMI Technical Committee has issued a "call for papers" for presentation at the TLMI Technical Conference this fall in Chicago. Conference Co-Chairs Mike Buystedt (Akzo Nobel Inks) Gordon McGee (Rotopress) and Rick Mix (All Printing Resources, Inc.) are asking that interested members submit papers focusing on innovation. All processes within the tag and label process, from order to delivery, will be considered. Input from converters, manufacturers and suppliers is needed.
Examples would include:
- Converter Members: Present information on innovated process that they care to share to the industry. These could include processes that your company has patented.
- Printing processes (UV flexo, combination printing, and digital printing)
- Prepress/set-up items (Art work, platemaking: digital vs. conventional, laser platemaking, dies, substrates, ink blending and proofing)
- Testing methods (press proofing, process monitoring, post printing testing)
- Converting problems (converting on film, ink issues: such as adhesion and batch-to-batch consistency, and waste reduction)
Chair Buystedt notes that innovation was selected as a theme based on comments from members during the recent Labelexpo and TLMI fall meeting. Converters or suppliers wishing to contribute should send an outline of their paper, along with a bio, to Executive Director Frank Sablone at headquarters no later than January 15, 2001.
