Or, as my teenage son would say, "Wait Wut?"
The word revolution is a very powerful and emotional word. Merriam-Webster.com definition states:
Revo - Digital Flexo Revolution is a group of companies supporting a focused mission to digitize the flexo manufacturing process. In short, the principle is to use UV flexo inks set up in a 7/color process (CMYKGOV) configuration using an automated flexo press that requires minimal physical operator intervention. This is not a digital press, it is a traditional flexo press that has been digitized.
The press is the Gidue M5 equipped with a series of servo motors and cameras that automate virtually all aspects of the press via digital commands. (www.gidue.com/index.php/gidue-products/m5-line)
Basically the press is run entirely by a touch screen making it so effortless even a Pre-Press guy like me could run the press. (Somewhere, the FTA's ex-press operator Joe Tuccitto is rolling on the ground laughing at the thought of me running a flexo press).

This is truly one of those "a picture is worth a thousand words" moments. You can visit www.revo-digitalflexo.com to review the project and see videos from Gidue's Open House held earlier this year. In one video, the press performs three job make-ready/changeovers that include solid spot colors, 200 lpi process, and die cutting, all three in 10 minutes! Truly Revolutionary!
If you are planning to attend Label Expo Americas 2014 make sure you stop by the Nuova Gidue S.r.l booth #5721-5722 and see the live demonstrations of this press. Or visit us at APR right down the isle at booth 5213 and we would be happy to introduce you.
