Epson launched two NEW SureColor P-Series printers in the Fall of 2019 - the SC-P7570 and the SC-P9570. These printers will NOT replace the SureColor P7000 or P9000, but they do offer several worthwhile enhancements at a slight price increase. With the release of the SC-P9570, the SureColor P10000 will be end-of-life in Q1 2020.

Typically the biggest drivers for Epson to launch a new proofer involve new print head and/or ink technology. In this case, Epson strikes gold three times with significant technology, device, and software enhancements.
1

New SureColor P-Series Print Head

  • While it is not really a new print head, Epson adopted the SC-P10000 and SC-P20000  PrecisionCore microTFP print head technology with a couple enhancements.
  • The biggest difference with this new print head compared to the SC-P7000 and SC-P9000 is that it is 2.4 times faster (at same hi-quality print resolutions)!
  • The print head also now includes 12-colors, compared to the current standard of 10-colors. This enables the user to run the proofer with both light gray and violet cartridges and not have to decide between the two. The user can also run both the matte and photo black without having to change out one for the other, which saves time and ink!

2

New SureColor P-Series Print Inks

  • Newly developed 12-Color Ink technology, UltraChrome Pro12. 12 inks include Cyan, Vivid Magenta, Yellow, Photo Black, Gray, Light Gray, Light Cyan, Light Magenta, Green, Orange, Violet, and Matte Black. So user no longer has to choose between LG or V and PK or MK. This means a dramatically improved color gamut, wiith the ability to hit 99% Pantone Formula Guide (solid-coated). Only a Standard edition (no Commercial edition).
  • "Industry leading print permanence", meaning the inks last for hundreds of years. Art in galleries and collectibles must be durable and long-lasting - so these inks meet or exceed the current spec of 200 years color/ 400 years B&W.
  • New improved print mode for deeper black density - "wet look".

3

New SureColor P-Series Print Engine

  • Sealed media door to prevent dust and debris from getting onto paper and clogging nozzles. If you have a dusty environment, this is a must!
  • Calibrated internal LED light so the user can see print as it is printing.
  • Improve retractable catch basket. The new catch basket now offers new configurations to ensure proofs don't end up on the floor.
  • Configurable User Interface and the first 4.3" touch screen. The interface lighting can also be adjusted based on ambient lighting conditions.
  • Similar media handling to current units, but with a simplified automatic loading process.
  • Simple quarterly or bi-annual maintenance functions reserved for Epson technicians are now accessible for the user to include print head cleaning and cap cleaning. User no longer has to pay or wait for a technician to come in for these tasks.
  • New cloud-based, Espon Media Installer Software to simplify media management. Automatically configures printer mechanical parameters for the printer.
  • Current Spectroproofer (ILS30) spectro is compatible with new proofers and can be moved to the new printer when upgrading.

Whether you are getting your first proofing device or need to replace an older unit, APR can help you to decide which of the SureColor P-Series Printers is a good fit - P7000 or P7570 and P9000 or P9570.
