3M is announcing a couple of new and exciting products for 2015! This morning, members of TeamFlexo participated a 3M webinar outlining these products and their features. I am happy to report that the new technologies we discussed will have a positive impact on productivity, both on and off press.
3M L-Series Mounting Tapes:
The same foam densities you know and love will now be available with a new adhesive package. The L-Series adhesive is unlike anything else on the market today. This plate-side adhesive provides excellent holding power and stability on press, while maintaining a low peel strength for easy removal after the print job is complete. Just a few benefits include reduced plate lift, fewer damaged plates caused by difficult demounting, and reduced injury and strain for those employees demounting plates. The L-Series tapes are currently only available in a 20 mil thickness, and still feature 3M's Easy Mount adhesive for air release.
3M 8387 Splicing Tape
3M 8387 delivers reliable splices and ease of use in a fiber-free splicing tape for film applications. This unique splicing tape has colored layers that allow the splice to be easily identified on any color substrate. In addition, the splice is completely printable due to the thin overall gauge of the tape. This means less downtime and less waste, since deck settings do not need to be changed to accommodate the splice. The liner is pre-scored for easy preparation.
