All Printing Resources is excited to announce SpotOn Color!
A completely new color management platform designed for the pressroom and other areas of production.

SpotOn Color for Optimum Spot Color Reproduction

SpotOn Color includes all the best features our users have enjoyed with SpotOn! Flexo, but is now an even more powerful tool for job management, production setup, process control, and overall job and color assessments! We realized early on that the current SpotOn! Flexo functionality extended far beyond use cases unique to Flexo.

Just as with SpotOn! Flexo, you can still quickly assess how quickly color shifts can be corrected on press and when it is time to reformulate ink. The simple user interface remains easy to interpret and navigate with color-coded icons that guide the operator as to how to resolve the issue via density shifts. However, SpotOn Color now incorporates a variety of new and improved features and functionality. In addition to tracking job parameters, operators can easily compare measurements across the web to help optimize and balance production settings.

SpotOn Color is a software package that uses spectral data to determine the best ink density for optimum color reproduction, allowing the press operator to run a spot color to match a customer's approved color.

Interactive trending data and enhanced data display options allow users to easily navigate and visualize areas for improvement to better troubleshoot. The process for setting up SpotOn Color with new jobs has been further enhanced with a unique PDF file upload functionality and streamlined color library management. Industry-standard databases are now supported and also enable third party reporting tools to connect.

SpotOn Color - How it Works

SpotOn Color uses spectral data to provide optimal density information, allowing the operator to run a color to match a reference color. This software compares the spectral data of a color measured on a press pull (using a spectrophotometer) to the spectral data of the reference color. A quick calculation gives the press operator the optimal density to obtain the closest (lowest Delta E, or dE) match to the reference color.

SpotOn Color is very easy to use. You load your reference colors into the SOC Database, choose the colors to be used, measure the colors on press and let the software do the rest!

Loading reference color into the SOC database can be done in one of three ways:

  • Ink formulations files such as MIF or CxF files can be uploaded
  • Colors can be measured into the software using a spectrophotometer
  • Colors can be migrated from earlier versions of SpotOn! Flexo

SpotOn Color supports all of the popular Delta E equations: dE1976, dECMC, dE1994, and dE2000. The software allows the user to set the dE tolerances for a specific job to include both warning and fail tolerances. For example, a customer may require all colors to be within a range of 3 dE to be accepted and will be considered failing at 5 dE.

SpotOn Color supports popular measurement instruments:

  • Konica-Minolta MYIRO-1
  • Techkon SpectroDens
  • X-rite eXact
  • X-Rite i1 Pro, i1 Pro 2, i1 Pro 3 (restricted)
  • X-Rite Ci64 (spherical)

Stand-Alone or Client-Server Configuration

SpotOn Color is available in a single version that operates as stand-alone or as a multi-user networked configuration by connecting to the in-house database server. SpotOn Color is compatible with both Windows and Mac.
