3M 8387 splicing tape is the newest addition to 3M's line of Splittable Flying Splicing (SFS) tapes. SFS is becoming more widely used by large printers and national accounts that need fast, reliable splicing. This tape is designed for use on film substrates which are more difficult to splice than paper and 3M is promoting it for “high-slip” substrates.
Benefits:
- Improved productivity due to high performance at faster speeds and on a variety of films
- Easier to handle and easier to lay flat as a result of product construction with adhesive across the width of the tape
- Eliminates the possibility of small pieces of tape or butterfly tabs breaking off and sticking to rollers or the CI drum
8387 has a film carrier that is stronger than paper. It is the thinnest SFS on the market and is also printable so it runs through the press easily. All of 3M's SFS tapes are “fiber free” when they split and will not contaminate the ink with fibers or debris. 8387 offers a unique multi colored construction, making it more visible to remove the splice during converting.
