Simply Clean is APR's very own line of press room cleaners. The product line contains non-caustic cleaners designed for water based and UV inks that are much safer than the competition. One often over looked product in the line up is Simply Clean SW (Solvent Wash). SW was originally designed to be a non-caustic cleaner for solvent inks in plate washers. Yes, you've read correctly, non-caustic for solvent inks. Recent testing has revealed additional uses. SW can be used straight, mixed 5:1 or 50:50 with water (yes that's right water) and placed in a spray bottle and used to clean solvent ink from press components, floors, printing plates, virtually anything in the press room where solvent inks need to be removed.
Safety
One look at the SDS information should be motivation enough for solvent ink users to give Simply Clean SW a try. The SDS will show a Health rating of 1, Flammability of 0, Physical Hazard of 0, and Personal Protection, a B rating. Comparing this to traditional cleaning solvents, used for cleaning solvent inks such as, 90/10, 80/20, 70/30 and even Acetate, a Safety Manager will be pleasantly surprised. SW is a pleasure to use, without the harmful vapors and potential affects of exposure to traditional solvents. Solvents, whether breathed or absorbed through the skin can have significant long term exposure affects.
Uses
Press components, floors, press frames, printing plates on press, sleeve washers, even replace the solvent used for your press wash up. As previously mentioned SW is a great plate washer solution as well. When used in machines with high pressure a few ounces of a water based de-foamer may need to be added per 55 gallons. What do you have to lose other than harmful vapors and affects of solvent exposure?
