First master the fundamentals.” – Larry Bird

Many an NFL game is lost because of poor fundamentals (as a Bears fan I can really identify with this statement). No matter how good the defensive or offensive strategy is it doesn’t really matter when a player can’t make a tackle or misses a block.

Fundamentals do matter a great deal in most everything we do in flexo as well!

Whether it’s the best practice on how to check viscosity or the proper relief needed on a quality printing plate, knowing these fundamentals can be the difference in quality and profitability. New and experienced team members can benefit from going over the fundamentals (think spring training) critical to consistent flexographic printing. You may also have staff in areas like customer service or sales that could benefit from gaining a better understanding of these important fundamentals that can help communication throughout your organization.

Because we have heard from many of our customers how critical good fundamental processes are, we have put together a short two day training course. This program will deliver an overall better understanding of the flexo process, related terminology, press components, prepress, platemaking, and ink room. We will address common print defects and best practices for defect resolution. We will also introduce key differences and challenges in spot color, screen and process color printing. Breakout sessions will include making a plate, a narrow-web press run, demonstrations of ink maintenance, and print analysis.

The course is taught by Catherine Haynes and Dan Muthig, both members of APR's Technical Solutions Group. Catherine and Dan have extensive flexo knowledge in actual practice as well as teaching these skills. The program is presented in our Innovation Center which has full prepress, platemaking, and printing capabilities.
