Preview your packaging design in Adobe® Illustrator® CS. viewX adds amazing featuresto Adobe® Illustrator® to visually inspect your packaging design.

viewX works with centrally stored Press Settings defining press specific characteristics such as:

  • the first printable dot,
  • its dot gain on a specific substrate,
  • the range of the dot gain curve,
  • the flexo plate manufacturer,
  • the registration error average and
  • the total area coverage (TAC) limit.

You have access to all predefined press settings during your visual inspection in the floatingviewX palette.

Separation Preview

With viewX separation preview, there is no more need to check the quality of your separationson an output file. With support for any existing image format, viewX previews the differentprocess and spot color separations without leaving Adobe® Illustrator®.

Images are viewed at full resolution, even OPI environments such as Xinet FullPress and Helios.Combine any number of separations for inspection of overprints and trap distances, and toggle thetrapX trap layer on or off during inspection. Check how a single separation will look on a negativeor positive film.

Densitometer

During the visual check, you have continuous access to the densitometer tool with TAC warning.Whether you are measuring Adobe® Illustrator® artwork or placed DCS2 pixels, the densitometergives you a correct readout at all times.

TAC Limit Preview

Check your packaging design for areas that violate the specified total area coverage (TAC)limit defined in the currently chosen press setting.

Plate Preview

Preview your flexo plate before making useless yet expensive plates. Predict how clean yourdifferent plate separations will look, and use the Esko FlexoTools plug-in for Adobe®Photoshop® to automatically touch-up the images if necessary.

Print Preview

Using the characteristics defined in the press settings, the print preview shows you theinfluence of the press on your packaging design. Preview gradients that break off, or dark partsthat lose detail.

Registration Error Preview

The registration error preview simulates a printed document taking into account the averageregistration error of the current press setting. Use this preview to check whether your trapsettings are sufficient for the target press.
