NCSS CertificationIn an effort to create a set of unified skill standards for the Flexographic Printing Industry, the Flexographic Technical Association (FTA), National Council for Skill Standards (NCSS), and a host of flexographic subject matter experts (SME) worked together to form the Flexographic Press Skill Standards and Flexographic Press Operator's Multi-Color Certification Examination. This certification defines an expert level press operator. The FTA then took this effort a step further and defined a four-level process of certification.

As defined by the FTA:
This system includes four progressive skill levels, which are designed to help the press operator learn and develop a high level of knowledge as they continue to move forward in the printing industry. The Skill Standards testing at each level is designed to help improve quality, technical expertise, hands-on skills, industry language, and to assess the needs of the pressman for additional areas of training.

APR is honored to be approved to proctor the examinations for each of the four levels of certification. We also offer 2-day review courses for each certification level. Each review is designed to be taken just prior to taking the respective certification exam. All APR trainers have been Classified and Certified as "Expert Level Press Operators" by the NCSS.

The FTA recommends that individuals start at Level I and build to Level IV.
